Ronnie O’Sullivan is a tormented person who needs the man he idolizes to win the historic eighth title.
Judd Trump anticipates that Ronnie O’Sullivan’s upcoming documentary will greatly benefit snooker, and considering the incredible embrace the two had during last year’s World Championship final, he also anticipates playing a key part in the movie.
Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything chronicles the Rocket’s journey from the beginning of his 2022 Crucible campaign to its culmination, where he won the World Championship trophy a record seven times.
In the Sheffield final, Trump faced the legendary Essex player O’Sullivan and lost 18–13. Following the final ball being potted, Trump’s opponent gave him a hearty embrace.
‘Yeah I’ll be in it a fair bit with the hug!’ Trump told Metro.co.uk. ‘I’ll be getting a lot of screen time!
‘I’m sure I will watch it, it’ll be quite an interesting story and it’s good for snooker to have something so mainstream.
‘It can only benefit everyone else involved in snooker. Ronnie’s got a one-off personality and you need that to make the headlines at times. I’m a bit more understated, but you need those kind of characters to promote the game as well.
Trump claims he was not thinking about the shooting during his run to the championship and his epic showpiece fight with the Rocket, but he thinks O’Sullivan must have found it difficult to ignore.
“I honestly forgot about it at the time; I wasn’t thinking about it,” he stated. “But there were undoubtedly moments during the competition when he [Ronnie] was aware that the cameras and microphones were on, and he would have somewhat catered to it.
One of the most remarkable moments of the World Championship was the long embrace between the Ace and the Rocket, during which both provided insight into what was stated later.
“As far as I’m concerned, this fella is already an all-time great,” O’Sullivan told the BBC following the championship game the previous year. He plays such dynamic snooker the way he does.
