Barring an incredible postseason run, the Green Bay Packers’ 3-6 record thus far in 2023 will force them to shift their attention to the 2024 campaign. Due to moves made this off-season and the decision not to re-sign experienced free agents, the Packers are now among the NFL’s youngest teams.

It was agreed upon when that choice was made that the 2023 season would include growing pains. Nobody, though, predicted that the offense would not be able to average above 20 points every game. Could the front office decide to spend money on a new QB and WR1 if the youthful Packers offense doesn’t inspire confidence by the conclusion of the season?

In a daring mock draft, the Green Bay Packers discover their version of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase.

Fansided’s Freddie Boston proposed a quite audacious and fascinating mock draft idea:

Off we go. While they don’t select one of the top quarterback prospects on the first round, the Packers select LSU’s Jayden Daniels with one of their two second-round selections.

Daniels is probably shooting up the draft boards given his amazing season. In just ten games this season, he has rushed for an incredible 918 yards and eight touchdowns while throwing for 3,164 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just four interceptions.

Daniels has entirely changed his approach in the pocket, slicing defenses apart with his anticipation, quick thinking, fluid mechanics, accuracy, and situational awareness, according to Pro Football Network’s Ian Cummings.

In the same game last week, Daniels became the first person in FBS history to throw for 350 yards and carry for 200 yards, according to ESPN. He should be on the Packers’ radar in the next draft because of his incredible performance, which broke records.

The LSU quarterback might try to talk his way into the first round. That is the extent of his impressiveness. However, Daniels was available via the mock draft simulator at position No. 38 overall, so the Packers couldn’t pass up this fantastic opportunity.

Boston’s mock draft carried on the LSU trend:

With their first-round selection in the second round, the Packers select a quarterback. Brian Thomas Jr., a wide receiver at LSU, is now one of his primary targets.

Green Bay may select Malik Nabers in the first round, but Thomas, his teammate, will also have enormous potential when he enters the NFL. Through nine games this year, the two have combined for more receiving yards and touchdowns than Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase did for LSU in 2019, per SportsCenter.

Thomas has incredible size at 6-foot-4, which is matched by an unbelievable combination of speed and athleticism.

“The physical gifts are comically good. Thomas Jr. is blessed with the kind of raw tools you typically only see with a user-created player on Madden. He’s big. He’s long. He’s explosive. He’s got good long speed, Kyle Crabbs of Athlon Sports.

And the best part? He already has great chemistry with Jayden Daniels, having caught 51 passes for 918 yards and 13 touchdowns this season.

It’s WR1 for the Packers. In the slot, Jayden Reed has demonstrated star potential, but Dontayvion Wicks is still impressive and deserving of more chances. While Christian Watson had a strong debut campaign, he has not been able to sustain himself as a target for Romeo Doubs.

I think the likelihood is that the answer is no. I would be shocked if the Packers gave up on Jordan Love after just one (starting) season, regardless of how they ended the campaign. Throughout his tenure with the squad, the quarterback has developed, as seen by the coaching staff. The squad wasn’t expecting a Super Bowl win in his first season of starting, despite their high ambitions. Seeing enough to commit past 2023 was their primary goal.
