Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Brandon Staley will be facing the Green Bay Packers and Matt LaFleur. This season, some Packers supporters have called for LaFleur’s dismissal, but there has also been widespread concern about Staley’s job security.
In four of the team’s nine games this season, the Chargers, led by head coach Brandon Staley, have allowed 475 yards or more of total offense. Could Staley’s career come to an end if they lose on Sunday? They currently have a 4-5 record.
It will most likely be after the season is over if they haven’t fired him by now or if they won’t after they lose to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. I look forward to watching this game unfold. Los Angeles has the second-worst defense in the NFL this season, so the Packers offense needs to run the ball early and often given how the Chargers have been playing defense.
Staley is supposed to be a defensive genius but it has been anything but that with Los Angeles. He served as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams a few seasons ago under Sean McVay’s coaching staff.
Matt LaFleur, the head coach of the Green Bay Packers, is superior to Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley.
No matter how bad it has gotten this season for Green Bay, they have a much better head coach heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Chargers. Matt LaFleur has won a lot of games in his first few seasons as head coach of the Packers.
Staley made it to the playoffs last season with the Chargers, but they blew the 27-0 lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in the AFC Wild Card Game. Many fans wanted him fired by then and they still want him fired.
If the game is close in the fourth quarter, expect LaFleur to make better in-game adjustments compared to Staley. If for some reason the Packers pulled off the upset and Staley was let go the next day, expect offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to potentially be the interim head coach for the rest of the season if they went that route.

The former Cowboys offensive coordinator drew up some impressive plays in Week 10 to go toe-to-toe against Ben Johnson’s rapid-firing Lions. Moore has helped Justin Herbert thrive this season despite injuries to key players (Ekeler, Williams) and despite Herbert picking up a knock or two along the way.
Moore has his faults, and the Chargers’ offense isn’t perfect. L.A. tends to perform worse in the second half of games (the Chargers are ranked 26th in second-half offense), which could stem from a combination of mentality and coaching issues.
Still, Moore has the added advantage of having worked first-hand with Herbert and the offense for one full season. He’s gained the team’s trust and should have no problem taking the reins in a potential head coach position.
”We’ll see how this plays out over the course of the next weekend and the entire season. Although Brandon Staley is under fire, he could become the second head coach fired in the middle of the season if the Chargers allow an average Green Bay Packers offense to gain an absurd amount of yardage.
