Head coach of the Detroit Lions Dan Campbell wasn’t getting the full effort from his group. However, in Week 10, the Detroit offense outperformed the Los Angeles Chargers 41–38.
Campbell therefore believed that his offense could win the game when it mattered most.
At fourth and two at the Chargers 26-yard line, with 1:47 remaining in the game and the score tied 38–38, Campbell decided not to attempt the game-winning field goal. The Lions offense, on the other hand, continued to play.
Sam LaPorta, a rookie tight end, caught a 6-yard pass from quarterback Jared Goff to earn the first down. The Lions then converted three kneeldowns into a field goal as time ran out to win the game.
After the win, Goff gave the media an explanation of the main reason Campbell postponed the team’s late field goal attempt, in his own colorful words.
After the game, Goff told reporters, “There’s a lot of factors going into that, but he’s got big balls, and he showed it there.” “When he hands the ball to us to make the play, it’s a lot of fun.”
