This season, West Ham’s play has drawn criticism, and manager s David Moyes has acknowledged that he was “bored” at one point during their most recent victory. On Sunday, November 12, at the London Stadium, the Irons overcame a 3-2 deficit to win their first Premier League game since September. The Hammers have had a difficult few months, and even though they defeated Forest 3–1, Moyes wasn’t totally satisfied with his team’s performance.
“The Scot said following the match, “We hadn’t played well enough in the first half,” as reported by WHUFC.COM on November 12. We didn’t move fast enough. Did it have anything to do with Thursday’s slight carryover?”It might be, but it might also be that Nottingham Forest is letting us get a little careless.” Although I thought we played fairly well, I was occasionally bored while watching the first half because of how slowly we were moving.
While things got much more exciting for the hosts during the second half against Forest, supporters could be forgiven for switching off at half-time.
Moyes’ men offered very little in the way of threatening or direct play during the first 45 minutes and were met by a chorus of boos when the referee blew his whistle to signal the break.
When they lost 1-0 to Everton in their most recent home league game, the situation was much the same. The club has a lot of attacking talent, including Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen, and Lucas Paqueta. As a result, chances and, more importantly, goals should be coming in much more frequently than they do.
Although Moyes’s admission that he was bored suggests that he agrees with the supporters and wants to see his team play more attacking football, many will still blame him. This raises the issue of who is to blame for the club’s recent lack of motivation.

After Nottingham Forest is defeated by West Ham United, David Moyes expresses his disappointment in the player.
James Ward-Prowse’s teammates at West Ham United should be “disappointed,” according to David Moyes, that they haven’t benefited more from his deliveries.
In Sunday’s 3-2 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest at London Stadium, Ward-Prowse provided assistance on two more goals for United (12 November).
After 16 games for West Ham, the 29-year-old has now set up nine goals; however, Moyes thinks that number could be higher after seeing what he saw against Forest.
According to Moyes, who spoke to the Daily Mail on November 12, “Let’s be fair, he is world class at his deliveries, and if I were him I’d be disappointed the other boys haven’t scored more from his deliveries.”
When asked about the most recent England omission of Ward-Prowse, Moyes responded, “I’m quite pleased because he’s going to get a wee bit of rest this week.” We’ve just had game after game over the course of this stretch between international breaks.
James is a huge assistance. Though there are so many excellent players for Gareth Southgate to pick from, I believe he will always be in his thoughts. James is waiting to see whether he has any injuries while he sits there.
Following an incredible debut season at West Ham following his move from Southampton, Ward-Prowse’s play has sagged somewhat as he has now gone six games without scoring a goal.
But on Thursday, November 9, he provided an incredible assist to set up Lucas Paqueta’s winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Olympiacos, and he then added two more assists against Forest.
With five assists this season, Ward-Prowse leads just two other players in the Premier League standings: Kieran Trippier (six) and Pedro Neto (seven).
In fact, those numbers exceed the midfielder’s expected assists rate of 3.1 [FBref], so the statistics do not support Moyes’ assertions.
The point Moyes is attempting to make—that Ward-Prowse has yet to disappoint—is evident, though.
Even though England might not want him, he is already a fan favorite at West Ham. May it last for a long time.
