Gujarat: GIFT City will host campuses for Australian universities Deakin and University of Wollongong.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship has been extended by the University of Wollongong (UOW) in Australia, which is a significant development for Pakistani students.

The program’s objectives are to inspire a new generation of enthusiastic, youthful leaders and equip them with the know-how, perspectives, and abilities needed to lead in the future. Each year, two Pakistani students will receive the scholarship.

The scholarship was introduced at a significant event by Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Australia, Professor Patricia M. Davidson, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Wollongong, and Adam Gilchrist, a former Australian cricket team captain and UOW Global Brand Ambassador.

During the event, the high commissioner expressed gratitude to the vice-chancellor for granting Pakistan access to the Leadership Scholarship.

He praised the effort and said: “I am sure these scholarships will provide a tremendous opportunity for outstanding emerging leaders from Pakistan to study at one of Australia’s top universities.”

The High Commissioner noted, emphasizing the program’s importance, that “this initiative will not only enable our future leaders to develop academically and professionally but also experience diverse Australian culture and build lasting positive relationships with Australia.”

“Pakistan and Australia enjoy excellent bilateral relations with strong education sector cooperation,” the High Commissioner said, highlighting the two countries’ strong collaboration in the field of education. The high commissioner praised Pakistan’s youth as its most valuable national resource and thanked the UOW for being a crucial partner in its efforts to develop human resources.

Vice-Chancellor Davidson gave a speech at the event and stated, “We are pleased to expand the Vice-Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship program to Pakistan. This program is in line with our mission to use education to build a better future.”

Gilchrist stated in his remarks, “I’m thrilled to be involved in this expansion. With the help of these scholarships, deserving Pakistani students will be able to follow their passions and change the world.”

The high commission will keep working with significant Australian universities to expand opportunities for Pakistani students and to fortify bilateral cooperation in the field of education between Australia and Pakistan.
