For the B-Team in 2023–2024, forward Alex Mighten of Nottingham Forest got the season going. He’s currently trying to get more experience with KV Kortrijk while on loan in Belgium.
Since leaving Forest, Mighten has had to wait patiently for a chance at his new club. But for the first time this week, he’s finally been given a starting position.
In the Jupiler Pro League, Mighten played for 72 minutes as Kortrijk and RWD Molenbeek drew 1-1. It’s interesting to note that he played in an unusual position.
Mighten is about to have an effect on loans at last.
By now, the gifted young player probably wishes he had more playing time at his loan club. Mighten has only made five appearances since leaving Forest, four of which have come off the bench.Mighten had scored three goals for the Forest B-Team in as many games, one of which was an outstanding goal against Arsenal. However, there wasn’t much of a chance to have an impact on Steve Cooper’s team, which is why a loan move was necessary.
A start was finally on the horizon for the Mighten, owned by the Forest, earlier this week. He lined up in the number 10 spot, though, rather than on the wing.

Mighten, a gifted player from Forest, had such a difficult season last year. On the first day of the season, he made his debut for Newcastle; however, he later went on loan to Sheffield Wednesday.
For the winger, things were pretty bad at Hillsborough. His playing style was just not suited for playing as a right-sided wing-back, even though that is what was requested of him.
Mighten works best when used on the wings. He can outpace defenders with his speed, and in wide areas of an attacking unit, he poses a far greater threat.
However, it appears that Kortrijk does not regard him as a winger either, which may not be good news for Mighten.
Forest’s only short-term goal will be to hope that Mighten can play a lot of minutes. There will come a time, though, when they want to see him used on the wings.
