Without a doubt, the NFL wants to see the “tush push” eliminated, and it’s actively investigating ways to make that happen.

Jon Runyan, a guard for the Green packers believes the league has not only figured out how to deal with the modified quarterback sneak, but has also started the process of phase it out. It’s just that no one else appears to be noticing.

Jon. Runyan said he lined up over the back of the football at LOS, which resulted in two calls of offside. To his great surprise. “I was unaware that was a regulation. I’ve always lined up on short yardage in that manner. Runyan surmises that the NFL’s emphasis stems from a crackdown on tush pushes.

According to SI.com, RyanWood stated on Wednesday, “I guess [calling penalties on that play] was a point of emphasis with the officials.” “I wish that information had been given to us for the first one. It’s something that requires improved communication. The NFL is attempting to gradually phase that out.

Runyan appears to think that in order to discourage teams from using the “tush push,” referees are encouraged to raise their flags when teams execute it. His hypothesis might also not be wholly absurd.

In Green Bay’s 20-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Runyan was flagged twice. The Packers executed the “tush push” both times it was fourth-and-1, and both times the penalty ruled out a first down.

They called us twice, so you can tell they were looking for it, according to Runyan.

The Eagles are the best team at running the play, with an 84% success rate, even though it isn’t a play that is unique to them. The NFL asserts that the reason it has a problem with the “tush push” is that the play’s rugby-like characteristics increase the likelihood of an injury.

Mid-October saw reports from the Fall League Meeting that NFL officials were reassessing the play’s legality. It is possible that the play will be outlawed in 2024.

“It’s a really good play,” Runyan continued. “I believe defenses will need to begin attempting to formulate a strategy. It’s difficult, and I’m not sure how you can stop it. It will be challenging to cover, but we’ll keep doing it as long as it was effective.

Notes on NFC North: Bears, Poles, Gary,

LionsThis offseason, Graham Glasgow lost his $44 million, four-year contract with the Broncos, now led by Sean Payton. Following an injury absence, the veteran interior lineman lost his job in 2022 and took a pay cut (to Quinn Meinerz). Glasgow signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract to return to the Lions, who had drafted him in 2016. Glasgow did start the season as a utility man given backup money. But with Jonah Jackson, Frank, and Frank unavailable due to injuries, the Lions have had to use the eighth-year veteran at three positions this season.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai and Ragnow. Dan Campbell stated that Glasgow has performed well enough to continue as a starter when the team is at full strength (via the Detroit Free Press’ Dave Birkett).

Glasgow, 30, has started all six of the previous games at center, right guard, and left guard. Glasgow will be Detroit’s starting RG going forward. After an early-season injury, Vaitai needed time off after winning the job out of training camp. Despite his return from knee and back ailments, Vaitai, a 2020 free agent acquisition, has not performed at his best since. Glasgow is ranked as the No. 5 overall guard by Pro Football Focus.

.. The former third-round selection now has the chance to use this season to once again command a high salary in free agency, though the Lions might also be interested in keeping him. Vaitai’s contract was cut by a year by the team in the wake of his 2022 suspension, and Jackson is now in a contract year. Going forward, the Lions have a few questions at guard.

What’s new from the NFC North is as follows:

Executives criticized general manager Ryan Poles’ pre-deadline strategy, despite the fact that the Bears have since extended Montez Sweat. According to one unnamed general manager (via Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post), the decision to suggest Jaylon Johnson was available for just 12 hours. The swimmer who vanished off the coast last night close to Wollongong is still being sought after.
After the swimmer vanished from Fairy Meadow Beach, Marine Rescue NSW started looking for him again at 8 a.m.
It is thought that the man was swimming when the beach was closed.
