Tyrese Maxey’s big fourth quarter and tenacity on the boards helped the Sixers upset the Celtics.
In the 2023-24 season, the Philadelphia 76ers’ biggest game to date finished with the right result, but in the least reassuring way possible. Despite leading by 15 points late in the game, they were on the verge of losing to the Boston Celtics. The Sixers eventually won.
Joel Embiid scored 27 points and defended well with four blocks. Tyrese Maxey’s 25 points, including 11 in the last period, put Philadelphia ahead by enough points to hold on. Tobias Harris scored 17 points, and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 11. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown of Boston On 10-27 shooting, they combined for just 27 points. Philadelphia has passed its early-season litmus test.

Based on the direction and velocity of the tip-out, he may not have intended to get it to Oubre, yet it still ends up in his paws.
