Just three Chinese airlines operated four return flights from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) to mainland China at the beginning of this year.
Eight Chinese airlines and Qantas will combine to offer 85 weekly return flights between Australia and China starting this month.

An Airbus A330-300, registration B-8690 and MSN 1825, which was delivered new to Sichuan in October 2017, was used to operate the service. While some of the seven A330-300s in Sichuan’s fleet have a 301-seat configuration with 36 seats in business and 265 in economy, this particular A330-300 is configured in a two-class layout with 305 seats, including 24 in business and 281 in economy.
Sichuan has an all-Airbus fleet of 189 passenger planes, of which 172 are single-aisle narrowbodies of the A320 Family, according to data from ch-aviation. The data indicates that there is nearly equal distribution between the A320 and A321 variants; however, there are still 23 A319-100s in use. Six Airbus A350-900s, four A330-200s, and seven A330-300s make up the widebody fleet.”Sichuan Airlines’ comeback coincides with China’s capacity getting closer to pre-COVID levels, which was unthinkable at the beginning of the year.
