The UK Championship has a rich history and prestigious past, having been held for the first time in 1977.

The top 16 seeds from the official world rankings list will automatically qualify for the first round at the venue stages, just like it was last season.

At the Barbican Centre in York, they will be joined by sixteen qualifiers who have to win a preliminary competition that runs from November 18 to November 23 and follows the same format as the World Championship.

The reigning champion, Mark Allen of Northern Ireland, defeated Ding Junhui in the 2022 championship match after mounting an incredible comeback from a 6-1 deficit.

Amateurs will compete fiercely once more for significant wins that might lead to professional tour cards at the conclusion of the season.

Meanwhile, this week’s Scottish Open qualifiers have been going on, and they will come to an end at Leicester’s Morningside Arena on Thursday.

The 900, a late-night amateur competition hosted by promoter Jason Francis and broadcast live on SportyStuffTV, is another show that is nearing its conclusion.

The 900 has already aired for seven weeks; the eighth weekly winner will join the other seven at the Grand Final on November 22.
