News now: Chelsea ignore a deadly winger…….

According to rumours, Brentford attempted to sign a free-scoring winger for a club record €43 million, and Liverpool and Chelsea have started their respective hunts of him.

In July, Brentford made center-half Nathan Collins their most expensive signing to date, setting a new club record. Collins was acquired by the Bees for £23 million from Wolves, but Thomas Frank’s team thought the record wouldn’t last long.

In fact, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed that Brentford had submitted a €43 million proposal for Nicolas Gonzalez, a winger for Fiorentina, around the end of August. The player was also presented with a “huge” wage offer.

Despite the substantial bid, Fiorentina had no plans to part with the 25-year-old Argentine. Gonzalez is a player on the rise, and Fiorentina thought his worth will soar in the near future.

In just a few months, the right-footed winger with a left foot has become one of Serie A’s most productive players.

In his first seven league games for Fiorentina this season, Gonzalez has five goals and one assist. The team was already right to maintain their position and turn down Brentford’s offer.

However, Fiorentina now have the difficult job of overcoming Chelsea and Liverpool, according a recent update from Calciomercato.

Reds and Blues advance towards Gonzalez swoop in the first place.
According to the Italian source, scouts from Chelsea and Liverpool have both visited Florence “multiple times.” Their objective was to watch Gonzalez, and considering his excellent play this season, it makes sense that they were taken aback.

Gonzalez didn’t sign a new deal with better conditions until September 26. He is now bound by a contract with Fiorentina through 2028.

That will make Fiorentina’s negotiating stance stronger should Chelsea or Liverpool move in their best interests.

Given this and his stellar performance, Calciomercato assert that Gonzalez’s current market value is between €55 million and €60 million. That’s between £48 million to £52.4 million.

Given the price increase, Brentford is probably out of the running for any upcoming bidding wars. Chelsea and Liverpool fall short in the same way.

Should Mohamed Salah is enticed to Saudi Arabia in 2024, Liverpool might soon be searching for a new left-footed right winger.

Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich is reportedly in their sights, but Gonzalez is as well, according to the Italian media.
