Newcastle is pursuing a German genius as they compete with Manchester City to sign a Leeds United talent.

Newcastle United may want to acquire a midfield player to cover for Sandro Tonali should he be suspended.

In recent months, Newcastle United has been connected to a number of midfield players, and the ongoing suspicions of betting involving Sandro Tonali have only fueled more rumours of January transfer activity.

Tonali paid almost £55 million to join St. James’ Park this summer, but he may have to spend a significant amount of time away from football to wager on games that AC Milan would win while he was a player, according to Sky Sports News.

According to reports, Newcastle United is eager to add more attacking options to its midfield. They have also been missing Joe Willock, one of the main players from the previous season, due to injuries. According to Spanish publication Sport, Florian Wirtz, a 12-time German international who is presently viewed as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising young talents, is a target for Newcastle.

Twenty-year-old midfielder Wirtz is now at Bayer Leverkusen, who lead the division in scoring. He was the youngest player to ever play for the club in league history, breaking Kai Havertz’s record when he made his first team debut in 2020 at the age of just 17 years and 15 days.

Two weeks later, at the age of 17 years and 34 days, Wirtz briefly held the record for being the Bundesliga’s youngest goalscorer; however, Youssofa Moukoko has since beaten that record.

In all competitions during the 2021/22 season, Wirtz recorded a total of 10 goals and 14 assists, which was statistically his greatest season. He was named to the Bundesliga Team of the Season due to his performance, and he has since received complete international recognition.

Due to an ACL injury, the attacking midfielder had to miss a significant amount of play last season, only making 17 appearances for Xabi Alonso’s team. He has now recovered, though, and has participated in every game this season as his side has won seven of its eight games.

If a deal could be reached, Wirtz’s versatility as a winger and a centre attacking midfielder might be very helpful to Newcastle in the second half of the season. In addition, he has participated in the Europa League each season since making his debut, giving him experience making it to the final stages of European competitions.

But according to rumours from ESPN and Fichajes, the Magpies are not alone in their chase; Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Man City could all become rivals.

Since the PIF acquired Newcastle United and Dan Ashworth was appointed Sporting director, the team has placed more of an emphasis on youngsters.

The group, which includes Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento, Yankuba Minteh, Garang Kuol, and Yankuba Minteh, is expected to make their way into the starting lineup in the coming years.

Newcastle is still working on this idea, and the Newcastle Chronicle claims that they are also considering Leeds youngster Finlay Gorman.

Although the 15-year-old has not yet made his competitive debut for the Yorkshire team, he is now a fixture for the U18 squad and is moving quickly up the academy ranks.

The Yorkshire Evening Post, however, asserts that Manchester City is the front-runner to relocate.
