Aston Villa and Man City boost Wolverhampton Wanderers news from BirminghamLive as Rayan Ait-Nouri talks the Wolves boss and the team’s recent resurgence in form. Wolves star makes Gary O’Neil vow.
Rayan Ait-Nouri says he is “very happy” with the way things are going at Wolverhampton Wanderers under manager Gary O’Neil. Ait-Nouri has recently shown promise at wing-back, most notably in the surprising victories over Manchester City and Aston Villa.
The Algerian international claims that O’Neil has given him confidence and has vowed to return the trust placed in him by the Wolves head coach. Wolves earned eight points from their first eight games, placing them 14th in the Premier League standings going into the break.
“I was happy with the good atmosphere against City and Aston Villa, and taking four points is good,” the 22-year-old said to the club’s official website. “We must now carry on and keep moving forward in preparation for our upcoming match against Bournemouth. Although we played well versus City, it wasn’t enough. We have a strong team, so we must now play well against Bournemouth.
When asked how it was like to play for O’Neil, who took over as manager in August after Julen Lopetegui left, Ait-Nouri responded, “I’m extremely satisfied. Since the gaffer has given me confidence, I want to use my best efforts on the pitch to inspire the gaffer. I believe I need to keep developing and refining my football. Now that I’m happy, I must go on.
“I know the position since we’ve played with five at the back previously. Because of this, I can attack more. I must maintain defensive focus since I must move forward in this section. I like to attack and shoot because I have a better possibility of scoring or getting an assist.
Ait-Nouri added, reflecting on life at Wolves in general: “I’m extremely happy. I want to offer this group everything I’ve got. I arrived here when I was very young, but now I have more life experience
I had the opportunity to compete in the top league in the world, and I thought it was excellent. I must carry on and advance in this process. In front of the crowd and the coach, I want to give my all.
