Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali is under investigation, while Nicolo Fagioli has been given a severe suspension.
Sandro Tonali, a midfielder for Newcastle United, has travelled back to Italy for questioning at the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in TurinFollowing a Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office investigative probe, Tonali withdrew from the Italy national squad and moved back to Newcastle.
According to Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso, who attended the Italian interrogation, the probe is thought to centre on the player’s alleged use of illegal online betting sites. Riso also acknowledged that Tonali had a gambling addiction.The footballer, Tonali, is believed to have used illegal internet betting sites, and Tonali’s agent has acknowledged that the player has a gambling problem.While the inquiry is underway, the 23-year-old has subsequently resumed training at Newcastle and is qualified to play against Crystal Palace at St. James’ Park on Saturday.
Riso remarked, “Sandro has a gambling addiction,” at a gathering at the Italian consulate in London. “He’s fighting to avoid that, and I’m confident he’ll prevail in this tough game.”
He is upset and still in disbelief.
Riso continued by expressing gratitude to Newcastle for helping the player, who might play in the Premier League again this weekend.
The player’s agent continued, “I’d want to congratulate Newcastle as they are backing Sandro. He’s working out; he might play on Saturday.
“I’m hoping that raising awareness about gambling addiction will help save Sandro’s life and the lives of many other young men who also struggle with the same issue.”
Sandro realised he needed to pay attention to this problem and address gambling addiction head-on and resolutely.
Nicolo Zaniolo, a midfielder for Aston Villa, was also expelled from the Italy team owing to the probe. Tonali moved from AC Milan to Newcastle for $52 million in the summer, a record figure for an Italian player.
The midfielder has played for the Magpies in 10 games across all competitions, scoring against Villa in his Premier League debut six minutes in.
