Divock Origi delivers brilliant response after Liverpool transfer branded a “disaster” - Mirror Online

The former Liverpool striker joined the Reds on loan from Italian powerhouses AC Milan in the dying hours of the transfer season, completing the Reds’ deadline-day deal for him. Origi hasn’t started for Forest yet, but since moving to the City Ground, he’s come on as a late substitute in all four of the club’s Premier League games.

The striker had a reputation for scoring significant goals while playing for Liverpool for eight years, despite not seeing much game action. Forest will be hoping he can duplicate it this season.

After finding it difficult to score goals during his debut season with Milan, the 28-year-old moved to Forest. In the 2022–23 season, he made 36 appearances for the club and scored twice, which caused him to slip down the Italian team’s priority list.

Hutchison mentioned the striker’s lack of starts for Milan and Forest when choosing who he believes has been the worst transfer so far this summer. He said to ESPN FC: “Divock Origi was the most meaningless transfer I could have made. I hate to use the word worst

He didn’t play for Milan, and I’m not trying to be mean. He hasn’t played there, as I predicted when I learned that Forest was going to get him. So, it (transfer) was a little bit worse than it was useful..

Origi explained how he felt an immediate connection after speaking with manager Steve Cooper after completing his move to Forest. “It worked well. The work he is doing and the energy he is providing are both evident. Before I ever spoke with him, I could tell,” he stated.

In our conversation, he described his impressions of me and the team, and he did a great job of translating their values. It was simple to comprehend. Despite the short duration of our chat, we felt right at ease with one another.
