According to reports, cand West Ham United are ‘leading the race’ to sign young Palmeiras forward Luis Guilherme, who is being actively studied by a number of elite clubs.
Guilherme definitely falls into the sort of young players with enormous promise that the Blues have a habit of signing. But it appears that West Ham will challenge them for his services.
The 17-year-old has already established himself as a regular for Palmeiras’ first team, appearing in 26 senior matches so far this year and contributing two assists.
Guilherme is a flexible player who can operate as a striker, winger, or attacking midfielder. Since he has previously represented Brazil at the under-20 level, his talent and promise are undeniable.
Scouts from Manchester United, Manchester City, and Arsenal have recently observed Guilherme in action, as previously reported by Football365. The kid is also being monitored by Bayern Munich, Benfica, Porto, Atletico Madrid, Lyon, and Monaco.
Chelsea and West Ham are reportedly ahead in the fight to sign the Palmeiras player, despite the interest of all those major European clubs.
Romano confirms that a Chelsea player is now expected to leave in January, putting Tottenham on high alert.
Chelsea and West Ham are reportedly “the favourites” to recruit Guilherme, according to a report from PL Brazil. After turning 18, they claim he might relocate to Europe in February. However, an agreement could be reached earlier.
Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Andrey Santos are some of the more fascinating acquisitions Chelsea has made since Todd Boehly assumed leadership.
Guilherme might be another thrilling long-term addition, but it appears that Chelsea and West Ham are vying for his services.
Guilherme, however, won’t be cheap. He has a £52 million release clause in his contract with Palmeiras, so it’s likely that one of his suitors will have to match that amount in order to sign him in January.
This is a hefty price to pay for a young player who hasn’t shown much in the Premier League, but if Guilherme fulfils his potential, he will be well worth it.
