During the 2023 offseason, the Boston Celtics made numerous significant transactions.
They exchanged for”Anytime you ge
t to add people with high character, high level, professional people, I think it’s a no-brainer and we’re so fortunate that he’s here, not just for the coaching staff, but for everyone,” Mazzulla said.”Anytime you get to add people with high character, high level, professional people, I think it’s a no-brainer and we’re so fortunate that he’s here, not just for the coaching staff, but for everyone,” Mazzulla said.
Van Gundy brings a wealth of expertise to the table, having previously worked as an NBA coach for 18 years.
He was a Knicks coach for 14 years, seven as an assistant and seven as the franchise’s head coach.
Van Gundy eventually became the head coach of the Houston Rockets for four years.
Van Gundy’s most famous role, though, was as an ESPN broadcaster.
Van Gundy switched from a clipboard to a microphone in 2007 and will continue with ESPN until June 2023.
The corporation laid off the veteran broadcaster.
Well, Jeff Van Gundy’s passion for basketball didn’t enable him to stay away from the game for long.
Van Gundy will reportedly contribute time to the Maine Celtics, the organization’s G-League franchise, in addition to becoming the Celtics’ senior consultant.
While Joe Mazzulla is delighted with Van Gundy’s appointment as a consultant, only time will tell whether this addition will be beneficial to the Celtics.
